Kate Berry is a photographer who makes fantastic documents of every day life, hers and others, and often collaborates with her partner Rohan Anderson from Whole Larder Love. As well as her own web site she has a great project called The Other Kate Berry with another photographer on the other side of the world who shares her name they post a picture each day of their separate lives. Clever.

Dreamy

I did some prop making work for the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) for their DreamWorks exhibition which opens today. I got a sneak peak the other night and it is a fantastic show and gives a great insight what goes into the creation of these films. I was lucky enough to hear Jason Schleifer the Head of Character Animation at DreamWorks discuss his creative process and see how he sketches out the beginnings of an animated sequence. Smiles all round.
And Art Class on as usual today..

klara bothen

It is starting to get a little cold around these parts . For the first time ever I don't mind as we have heating in our new house and the promise of a warmer more comfortable time of it all. It gets you thinking of wool and warmth and these beautiful mittens made by Klara Bothen look like just the ticket. The wool was hand dyed by her grandmother and mother from forest plant at their summer house in Sweden. She has a lovely blog and a shop where you can snap up your own pair of mittens... or maybe this hat...

camera trouble

Here is the last and admittedly adorable photo my brand new excellent camera took before one of those drops of water landed on it and short circuited the flash unit. It is off being repaired and I am making do with my old one with a broken screen which means I can't change any settings. So excuse my image quality for the next week or so. Thanks so much!

angelica mesiti the calling

oooh I have just realised that Angelica Mesiti the artist who made the video I loved and wrote about last week has one on exhibition here in Melbourne at ACMI, it is about the use of whistling as a ways of communicating in disparate cultures. I can't wait to go and see it. Here is a video of her talking about the project
